Strengths Coaching for Success

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Coaching?

You will find many definitions of coaching, but my take on it is that it is simply helping people define and achieve their goals.  I think that definitions of coaching vary because coaching can help in every area of life.  Goals vary:

  • ‘working out what I really want’
  • ‘getting promoted to MD’
  • ‘improving my work/life balance’
  • ‘making my team more productive’
  • ‘running the London Marathon’
  • ‘running my own business’

Coaching can help with them all.  There are many elements to coaching sessions with a good coach:

How Do Coaching Sessions Work?

I tailor my approach to your individual needs and goals. Sessions are based on a process of assessment, goal setting, action steps and back to assessment, and I use a range of coaching techniques and tools to ensure that you get the results you want.

Coaching takes place in the comfort of your home, your office or any other quiet place you would prefer. Sessions can be as frequent as you wish. Most people prefer fortnightly or monthly.

The coaching situation is a completely safe, non-judgemental environment, where you can really be yourself and explore how to make the best of who you are.

An individualised coaching programme will be created specific to your needs and may range from a single individual Strengths Discovery Session to a complete package of strengths-based discovery and development for a whole team or organisation, including manager coaching around his or her team members’ strengths, as well as team workshops to improve teamwork and performance.

How Long Is the Process?

Coaching is about achieving your goals and objectives. This does not happen from one day to the next. Some clients make coaching an integral part of their life. But perhaps right now you are only seeking help in a specific situation. That’s fine.

I recommend 4-18 months in order to see lasting change, as follow-up is often key to ensuring that goals are achieved, but the length of a coaching programme is variable, tailored to the needs of each individual client.
